CES News

There's a lot happening in our vibrant school! We’ve included all the latest events here on one page. Make it your first stop when you visit our school website to ensure you are always aware of what is going on.

Overdue Library Books

Our library currently has a lot of books overdue. Some of them have been overdue for months. Please have your student look for any lost books in their lockers, desks, backpacks, and bedrooms. Books really like to hide under beds, so please check there as well. Thanks for your help!

Health and Fitness News from Ms. Hodge

It is a new year and time for resolutions. Here are a couple ideas for you to think about:

  • Exercise as a family: pick at least one day a week to do something together like taking a walk, playing basketball at the rec center, or going skiing together. You will never regret spending time with your kids, and they will love you for it.
  • It is also a time when some of us want to lose weight. One simple idea is to eat more fruits and vegetables and less sugar.
  • In 5th grade health, we are going to be studying nutrition, so ask your child for ideas to help change family meals to make them more nutritious.

Our 6th grade health students are still participating in the DARE program.

In physical education classes, will be starting a hockey unit. They will practice skills and participate in small side games of hockey. With all the tests and music practices the last couple of months, we did not get to the fitness test. This quarter we will be taking the fitness test, so students should practice curl-ups and push-ups at home. They should also run to get into shape for the pacer test.

Thank you for all you do for your child!

Hat Fridays

Student council is starting Hat Fridays. Students can choose to pay $0.50 to wear a hat each Friday, or pay $8.00 for the rest of the Fridays in this school year. The money collected goes directly to student council. The money will be for fun school activities and incentives. This is an optional activity.
