Our students are making headlines, and we want to share all the great news with you. We will keep this page updated with important announcements, news stories, and student shout-outs. Please check back often, and help us celebrate our students’ many achievements.

Christmas Tree Lighting

The Frontier Arts Council is sponsoring the Christmas tree lighting in the Triangle on Tuesday, November 28 at 6:00 p.m. Santa will make a special appearance, and there will be an opportunity to have photos taken inside the cabin with Santa. We will serve cookies and hot chocolate. We can't wait to see everyone there!

Library Books

Due to the extensive travel that takes place over the Thanksgiving holiday, we will not be checking out library books over the break. All library books are due back no later than Tuesday, November 14. Thank you and have a happy and safe holiday.

Throat Culture Program

Nurse Annie Wagner would like everyone to know that Tuesday, November 14 is the first day of our throat culture program. Your child should bring a note to school, or a parent/guardian should call the school office requesting a throat culture. Your child must show signs of a strep infection to receive a culture. Some signs to look for include a red sore throat, spots on tonsils, and swollen tender glands in the neck. Most children will have a fever and sometimes complain of a headache or stomachache. Students may not receive a culture on a weekly basis. If your child has a positive culture, we will send them home from school with a note that the clinic must sign, and they will need to be on medication for 24 hours before they may return to school. Teachers may refer students that they suspect may be ill with the strep bug. If you do not want your student to participate in our throat culture program, please let us know with a note or a phone call. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office.

Emergency Messaging System

Attention parents, LCSD #1 tested the emergency messaging system on Monday, October 23. If you did not receive the test message on that day, please contact your child’s building to check the information on file. Please remember to contact the school whenever your contact information changes.

Weather Reminder

As the weather changes, remember to send your child with cold weather clothing such as a hat, gloves, coat, and boots. Don't forget the tennis shoes for music and PE!
